Care for natural stone

While granite, marble and limestone are durable and require little maintenance and cleaning, it is important to ensure proper care to maintain their beautiful appearance for a long time. Polycor has developed a specifications guide with recommendations respecting product maintenance.

Please note that the maintenance of granite differs in some points from that of marble and limestone.

Granite

Wash the surface frequently.

Do not use abrasive cleaners such as cream or dry soaps, which may damage and scratch your surfaces.

Clean surfaces with mild detergent or soap stone.

Do not mix bleach and ammonia. This combination creates a toxic gas.

Rinse and dry the surface after washing.

Never mix chemical products without instructions unless specified.

Clean up spills immediately.

In food preparation areas, it may be necessary to apply a penetrating sealer to the granite.

Clean granite surfaces with a few drops of a mild detergent, a soap stone (available in hardware stores that sell natural stone products), or a mild liquid dish soup and warm water.

Limestone & Marble

Wash the surface frequently.

Avoid contact with wine or vinegar. Limestone honed and antique finishes can react to these products.

Clean surfaces with mild detergent or soap stone.

Rinse and dry the surface after washing.

Clean up spills immediately.

Clean surfaces with mild detergent or soap stone. These stone types are more sensitive to acid detergents and must be cleaned with more caution than granite.
